Hi! I'm John Landry, a multidisciplinary artist from Saint John, NB with over 15 years of combined graphical experience. An adaptive, dedicated, team-oriented professional propelled by questioning everything. With a passion for learning new skills, I challenge myself to absorb new concepts through my career, volunteer work, and hobbies. Immediately after high school, I pursued a diploma in Animation, obtaining a wealth of capability, and experience with some of the industry's most widely-used tools, techniques, and applications. Later on, this knowledge became invaluable to the continuation of my learnings.

In the first few years following graduation, I worked as a 3D Animator for two post-graduate programs: The Game Garage Incubator Program through the Interactive Media Alliance in Charlottetown, PEI, and for soldier training at the Army Learning Support Centre in Base Gagetown, NB. During this period, I took pleasure in creating 3D animations for video games, simulation, and videography, and acquired new 3D modeling and texturing skills. Upon the completion of these programs, and with a shortage of animation work in Southern New Brunswick, I sought the resources needed to learn new skills about Graphic Design.

For years, I worked as a designer for Brunswick News (now 'Bonshaw Media') creating advertisements for print publications across the province of New Brunswick. My ability to illustrate allowed me the opportunity to fulfill special project requests. On one occasion, I was asked to create a caricature (cartoon character) of a small-business owner to use in their ad; This resulted in a long-term contract, and the initial ad concept became an ad series lasting many years. Eventually, I took an offer from Appnovation Technologies as a Creative Specialist. Transitioning back into the digital world allowed me to create still, animated, and/or interactive ads for social platforms and Google Ad Words.

During my time with Appnovation, new opportunities were around every corner. I became heavily involved with internal assets, from legal documents to ebooks and case studies to slideshows, brand guidelines, and event material (like popup banners, backdrops, flyers, stationery, and video showcases). I created easy-to-use templates to allow non-designers at the company to create documents and presentations without departing from the brand. I was also involved in a company-wide rebrand, pulling me into extensive UI/UX projects and sparking an interest in programming; In 2021, I accepted my diploma in Programming and had the intention of uniting my skills in visual graphics and computer code.
